What is activated charcoal?

Charcoal is nothing but actually carbon, which is formed when wood is heated at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen. So, Activated charcoal is simply a charcoal that has been operated with oxygen to open up all the millions of tiny pores between the carbon atoms. This is critical because these pores enable liquids or gases to pass through the charcoal to interact with the exposed carbon. The carbon then absorbs impurities & contaminants.

What can you use activated charcoal for?

You’d be amazed, but activated charcoal can be used for multiple purposes. While you may remember activated charcoal as an ingredient in water filters, it’s also usually used in hospitals to treat poisonings,  lower cholesterol levels, reduce intestinal gas, and even prevent hangovers!

Is activated charcoal safe to use on my face?

The answer is yes. Beauty addicts include activated charcoal in their daily regimen to whiten teeth, treat acne, and remove blackheads.

So, what exactly are blackheads?

Blackheads are nothing but the pores that get clogged on the face, typically due to the overproduction of oil. In medical terms, they’re actually the first step of acne, and some of you may have had experience with a blackhead forming into a pimple. The use of topical oils & makeup can make blackheads worse.

Is it true that I have blackheads due to poor hygiene?

No! This is truly a myth. In fact, the National Health Service in the UK states that most biological reactions that trigger acne actually appear beneath the surface of the skin.

How does activated charcoal help with blackheads?

How to use activated charcoal strips, the time required and how it works?

Remove weeks (yes! weeks!) worth of pore gunk with just 1 strip. These blackhead removing pore strips use activated charcoal to suck out deep-down dirt, oil and blackheads. Here’s how it works: polymers in the activated charcoal attach to the dead skin cells, dirt, and oil in the skin and pull out all impurities. The result? Fresh feeling skin that is visibly clear, clean and 3x less oily.

To use: Slap it on. Wait 10 minutes. Strip it off.
